Is it necessary to clean a new gun before using it for the first time?
Yes. You need to clean the grease in the barrel especially, and from other parts of the gun that was used to prevent corrosion during shipping.
Definitely! That goo that comes on it is not a lubricant. Heat will cause it to get thick & sticky, causing problems. If it gets hot enough to bake it on, it's really tough to get off. When new, it's really not that hard to remove. Then oil it.
Thank you for excellent advice!

Proper cleaning and lube will help it in more ways than we have time to describe. If you have any problems, please let us know and we will help you get them taken care of.
